Stevie “Steve” Young Hawkins was born on December 30, 1952, in White Hall, Illinois, the son of Lois Higgs. He attended and graduated from high school in Winchester, Illinois. Steve dedicated 30 years of hard work to John Deere, where he worked his way up before retiring in 2004.

Over the years, Steve was previously married, but he later found lasting companionship with Lisa Avery, whom he married on February 10, 2005, in Rock Island, Illinois. Together they built a life filled with family, music, and simple joys.

Steve was a proud member of the Mississippi Valley Country Music Association and had a deep passion for music. He could often be found spending hours with his guitar, playing the songs he loved. He also enjoyed fishing and “junking,” always keeping an eye out for cans and hidden treasures. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially family picnics.

Steve is survived by his wife, Lisa Hawkins of Hampton, Illinois; his children, Amanda and Rebecca “Becky” Hawkins of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Bradley and Steven Hawkins of East Moline, Illinois; his step-sons, Donald Crabtree of Hampton, Illinois, and Michael Crabtree of Hillsboro, North Carolina; and seven beloved grandchildren, including Todd Hughes, who was especially dear to Steve and remained faithfully by his side during his illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Higgs; his aunts, Rosemary and Francis; and his uncle, Dan.
