Ronald D. Gass, Jr.

Ronald D. Gass, Jr., 64, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for Ronald’s grandchildren.

Ronald Dean Gass, Jr. was born on January 28, 1961, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Ronald and Jeannette (Olson) Gass, Sr. He married Cathy “Michele” Kommer on November 17, 1984, in Orion, Illinois, and was the proud father of Tiffany Sodeman and Ronnie Gass III. He was a member of IBEW Local 145 and dedicated over 35 years working as a commercial electrician.

He enjoyed going fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed relaxing at home watching golf, NASCAR, his favorite television shows, or cheering on the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Above all else, Ronald cherished his role as “Papa”. His grandchildren were the heart of his world, and his greatest joy was found in the love and time he shared with them.

Ronald is survived by his children, Tiffany (Adam) Sodeman and Ronnie Gass III; grandchildren, Isaih, Ariana, Sophia, Jade, Xander, Sebastian, Charlotte, and Riley; mother, Jeannette DePorter; siblings, Kristy (Dan) Robinson, Rick Gass, and Julie (Eric) Justice; step-siblings, Deanne Timm, Debbie Peters, and Dan Styx; former spouse, Cathy “Michele” Haynes; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Ronald and Sue Gass, Sr.; and a step-brother, Dean Styx.

Ronald Dean Gass, Jr. will always be remembered as a loving father, a cherished Papa, and a man whose heart was happiest when surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
