Roderick Fleets, 62, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, Illinois.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Roderick was born January 8, 1964, in Mobile, Alabama, the son of Bennie (Hillard) Fleets and Johnny Monley. A true jack of all trades, Roderick had a knack for fixing just about anything. He spent most of his career putting that talent to work as an electrician, a trade he took great pride in.
A man of strong faith, Roderick was a longtime member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Prichard, Alabama. When he wasn’t fixing something, he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and, perhaps most of all, eating. He especially loved a good cookout and gathering around good food with the people he loved. Above everything else, Roderick loved his family fiercely and treasured the time he spent with them.
Roderick is survived by his children, Kenya Fleets, Zackary Petway, and Kyle Petway; six grandchildren; siblings, Kenny (Brenda), Gary, and Roy Fleets, and Wanda (Gregory) Dukes; his dear friend of over 23 years, Mary Bradley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Karl Fleets, Charles Fleets, and Eulanda Watson; and a special aunt, Betty Lacy.
