Ralph A. Veenker, 84, of Aledo, Illinois, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Aledo Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in George, Iowa. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Ralph Andrew Veenker, Jr. was born April 6, 1933, in George, Iowa, the son of Ralph A. Sr. and Bertha Mae “Sis” Veenker. He was married to Anne Gilpatrick until her death on May 13, 1989. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a medic in Europe during the Korean War.
He worked as an accountant at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 30 years.
Ralph is survived by a daughter, Traci Swift of Joy, Illinois; a son-in-law, Andrew Swift of Davenport; a step-son, Daniel Lubell of Miami Beach, Florida; siblings, Rita Stockman, Mary Harsma, Linda (Cris Johnson) Veenker, Dorothy (Donald) Staas, and Judy Veenker; and a sister-in-law, Helen Veenker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Martin; a sister, Catherine; and brothers-in-law, Tim Stockman and Dale Harsma.
