Olen D. Holt, 79, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, September 1, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Davenport, surrounded by family.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. There will be no public services.
Olen Dale Holt was born April 25, 1938, in Princeton, Missouri, the son of Garl and Frances (Dykes) Holt. He had been married to Sandra Henning, with whom he had three children, and later was married to Midge Emery, with whom he had a daughter.
He retired from the City of Davenport, where he worked construction and was a truck driver, among other things. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, and was a big NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. Above all else, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Olen is survived by four children, Becky Meeks of Buffalo, Iowa, and Brian Holt, Brenda and Brian Gillespie, and Sarah Allen, all of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Darlene and Albert VanMechelen of Davenport, Sherry and Butch Baclet of Eldridge, Iowa, and Melba Baker of Mount Joy, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Corrine LaGrange.
