Nancy L. Dorland

Nancy L. Dorland, 74, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026, at home.

There will be no services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials can be made to a church or charity of your choice.

Nancy Leigh Smock was born March 2, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Lloyd and Ruth (Groseclose) Smock. She was a 1970 graduate of Moline High School. She married David E. Dorland on April 3, 1971, in Colona, Illinois. He died March 28, 2021.

She enjoyed reading, crafts, growing flowers, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her four children, Shana (Michael) Danese of St. Joseph, Missouri, Nicole (Michael) Ortiz of Moline, Damian (Kathy) Dorland of Silvis, Ilinois, and Royanne (Thomas) Overfield of Rock Island; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Smock; two aunts; lots of cousins; and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Smock.
