Monte M. Johnson

Monte M. Johnson, 61, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on May 13th, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa. Monte enjoyed spending time in his garden, nurturing flowers and vegetables, as well as riding his motorcycle and caring for his animals. He had a passion for adventure and often embarked on trips with his family. An unwavering fan of the Chicago Bears, he dedicated himself to supporting his team. In addition to his sports enthusiasm, Monte was a skilled semi-truck driver, dedicating several years to the profession.

His love for children was evident in his entertaining neighborhood firework displays and his tradition of gifting glow sticks and toys to kids during the holidays. A family man at heart, Monte cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially his daughters and grandson Clayton. He and his wife also had a cherished weekly tradition of date nights, frequently attending movies together.

Monte is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Clifford and Gladys Lavon (Baker) Johnson, his brother Kevin Johnson, and his sisters Kim and Kelly Munholland. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Johnson; his children Devon (Doug) Griesbach, Angela Bartosch (Sam Kenyon), and Josh (Sara) Morgan; his grandson Clayton; his brother Roy (Theresa) Johnson; his niece and nephews; his mother-in-law, Linda Oertel; and his best friend of over twenty years, Jason Stigen.
