Moline, Illinois

Michael H. Livingston (NOT Mike or Mikey), 43, of Moline, Illinois, passed Saturday, March 7, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center, in Davenport, Iowa. He fought cancer and bravely lived with Type 1 diabetes, meeting its daily challenges with resilience and determination. Though his time here was far too short, Michael filled his life with knowledge, creativity, and an endless love for his family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Michael Hiram Livingston was born on April 28, 1982, in San Diego, California, the son of Herbert and Susan (Tripp) Livingston. From a young age, Michael had a curious mind and a natural talent for technology. He attended North Branch Wesleyan Academy and later pursued Pre-Med studies at Pensacola Christian College and Ferris State University. Life eventually guided his talents toward the ever-evolving world of technology, where his brilliance and determination would leave a lasting impact.

Michael was previously married to Bethany Sullivan, the mother of two of his children, who preceded him in death. On June 19, 2007, Michael married the love of his life, Melissa Cline, in Lapeer, Michigan. Together they built a home full of laughter, imagination, and adventure while raising their five beloved children.

Michael built an impressive career in the technology and communications field, working with several major companies including John Deere as a Collaboration Analyst, Blizzard Entertainment as a Senior Telecom Administrator, MUFG as Vice President, and most recently as a Senior Global Collaboration Engineer at Fragomen. His expertise in unified communications, networking, and collaboration technologies made him a trusted leader in his field.

Over the years, he earned numerous professional certifications including DM Certified Designer – 4K from Crestron Electronics in 2013, Cisco Certified Network Associate in 2015, and Cisco Certified Specialist – Collaboration Applications Implementation in 2018. While working at MUFG, he received the Presidential Award for his critical contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping thousands of employees quickly transition to working from home through the communication systems he supported.

Yet beyond titles and certifications, Michael was most alive when he was immersed in the world he loved most, gaming. Gaming was more than a hobby; it was a passion, a career, and a community. Michael was proudly credited in several Blizzard titles including World of Warcraft: Legion (2016), Starcraft: Nova Covert Ops – Mission Pack 3 (2016), Starcraft: Remastered (2017), Hearthstone (2017 & 2018), and World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth (2018).

When he wasn’t working, Michael could often be found building computers, experimenting with 3D printing, watching Star Trek with his dogs “Spock” and “Seven of Nine”, enjoying anime, or diving into the newest game release. But nothing meant more to him than sharing his world with his children. Whether inviting the kids into the office and having Nerf wars, or spending hours exploring Minecraft together, Michael made sure his children were part of the things he loved most. He gained the title of “Bat-dad” after a courageous save of his daughter Ryah’s life during a hospital stay, which he arrived just in time to be the hero she needed. He also had a love for Ford Mustangs, gardening, the outdoors, the ocean, and wildlife; especially sea turtles. He was a true animal whisperer.

He also had a love for travel and experienced many parts of the world throughout his life. One of the small traditions his family will always have, after his travels he would return home with a treasure for everyone, a simple but meaningful reminder that no matter how far he traveled, his heart was always with his family.

Michael is survived by his wife, Melissa Livingston; children, Kai, Ryah, Allie, Sophie, and Lochlann Livingston; parents, Herbert (Pam) Livingston of Fenton, Michigan and Susan (Jeff) Rupp of Weeki Wachee, Florida; sister, Brittany (Ricky) Yates; Pam’s children, Paige (Joe) and Nick (Bre); in-laws, Ron and Karilynn Cline; brother-in-law, Josh (Laura) Cline; a niece, many nephews, and best friends he considered family.

Though he has logged out far too soon, the worlds Michael helped build, both digital and real, will continue through the people who loved him most.
