Michael A. Hoyt, 71, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, at UI Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to CASA of Lexington.

Michael Alan Hoyt was born November 5, 1953, in Camp Atterbury, Indiana, the son of Alan and Joanne (DeWaelsche) Hoyt. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and went on to continue his dedication to public service with the Department of Defense.

On May 29, 1976, Mike married the love of his life, Tammy Terrell, in Moline. Next year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary; a milestone that speaks to their lasting bond and deep love.

Mike was a natural gardener with a green thumb. A wedding plant gifted to him and Tammy more than 40 years ago still thrived under his care. He loved propagating his flowers each year and took immense pride in his yard and garden. He enjoyed woodworking and building. But more than anything, Mike found peace on the water. Fishing was his greatest passion and lifelong retreat.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy Hoyt; sons, Dane Hoyt and Joshua (Marissa) Hoyt; cherished grandchildren, Madisen, Darrin, Hudson, Henry, and Harper Hoyt; his loyal companion, Toby; his father, Alan Hoyt; and siblings, Pat Hoyt, Tim Hoyt, Sally Mendoza, and Dan Hoyt. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Hoyt.

Mike is now at peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely in life.

Condolences may be shared at CremationQC.com.
