Max W. Rensberger, Jr., 74, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Burial will take place at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Ohio, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church landscaping equipment fund.
Max was born February 4, 1951, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Max Sr. and Barbara Ann (Holmes) Rensberger. He grew up in Cincinnati, moving for a few years to Michigan, before moving to Moline. He married Margaret “Maggie” Baker, on April 13, 1985, in Kirkwood, Illinois. He worked as yard and operations manager at Meyer’s Landscape and Design and Heritage Landscaping.
Max had a passion for all things with wheels, riding motorcross for Suzuki in Michigan, and owning a variety of cars with his 1978 Ford Shelby being his favorite. Fishing and gardening (often with his dog, Kelsey) filled his days at “the farm pond”, his lovely yard, neighbors’ homes, and the grounds at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church.
Family was always Max’s greatest joy. He is survived by his wife, Maggie Rensberger, his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Heea Rensberger, and his grandchildren, Noah and Lumi.
Growing up in Ohio, Max loved family fun with his sisters, Sue Renard and Ann (Daryl) Patrick, and brother, David (Donna) Rensberger.
Later years provided lively family gatherings with niece, Anne (Luke) Ogonek; nephews, PJ Arnold and Michael Patrick; great-nieces, Gwendolyn and Penelope Ogonek; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lisa (the late Dave) Lindstrom, Kristine Baker, Ed (Marie) Baker, Lisa Young, George (Kris) Baker, the late John Young, and their families.
