Laura E. Harper

June 6, 1942 — June 8, 2025

Davenport, Iowa

Laura E. Harper, 83, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa, surrounded by the love of her family.

The former Laura Ella Nute was born June 6, 1942, in Davenport, the daughter of Harrison and Dorothy (Peterson) Nute. She married Ron Harper on October 1, 1982, in Davenport. She worked for the Davenport Public Schools for many years.

A lifelong lover of baseball and proud St. Louis Cardinals fan, Laura never missed a game — cheering loudly from her living room or discussing stats like a true pro. When she wasn’t rallying for the Cardinals, she could be found enjoying a lively game of bingo, where her quick wit and lucky streak were the envy of many.

But more than anything, Laura was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She poured her heart into her family, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting smell of her famous home-cooked meals.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 42 years, Ron; three loving children, Jerry (Chris) Stinocher, Jeffery (Denise) Stinocher, and Melissa (Steve) Vogrin; her seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelsey, Brandon, Amber, Matt, Joe, and Drew; and five great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy, Layelle, Bennett, Camden, Gianna and Jackson.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois. Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House Gifts to VNA and Hospice Quad Cities
