Karen “Susie” S. Smith, 74, of Davenport, Iowa, passed Thursday, July 9, 2026, at her residence.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Karen Sue Smith was born on February 9, 1952, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Mason and Maxine (Medlock) Stirk. She married the love of her life, Robert L. Smith, Jr., on September 12, 1999, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her just months prior, on March 28, 2026.

Susie and Bob were members of the Quad Cities Clown Troupe. For 16 years, Karen brought smiles, laughter, and comfort to countless children and families through her work as a clown. She received the nickname “flour” from the Clown Troupe, and always carried around a bag of some flour. She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Ramiah. She had a big heart and genuinely loved almost everyone she met. She cherished the many friendships she made throughout her life, especially those within her apartment community, where she enjoyed weekly game nights with her neighbors.

Susie is survived by her sons, Ronald Graham of Silvis, Illinois and Scott Graham of Coal Valley, Illinois; six grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister, Marlene Mills; and sister-in-law, Kelly (Randy) Norberg of Clinton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith, Jr.; son, Jason Stirk; parents, Mason and Maxine Stirk; and sisters, Carol Grumadas and Shirley Stirk.
