John A. Jenney

John Allen “Johnny” Jenney, 48, of North Liberty, Iowa, passed away August 11, 2026.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date and details will be provided. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. In lieu of flowers, Johnny would love if donations were made to North Liberty American Legion, ATTN: John Jenney Memorial, 2349A Mehaffey Bridge Rd. NE, North Liberty, Iowa 52317.

Johnny was born on November 23, 1977 in Barstow, California, to John Jr. and Michelle (Carpenter) Jenney.

Johnny was employed and “adopted” by the staff and patrons of Club 76 in North Liberty. The Clubs staff and patrons will all miss Johnny dearly.

He grew up in many places however spent most of his time in Iowa developing and cultivating his love of cooking. In his younger years he enjoyed soccer and baseball. He pitched and played 1st base for the Camp Lejeune All Star Team. Johnny was an avid sports fan, loved North Carolina Basketball, Washington Redskins, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Johnny will be remembered most for his delicious dishes, his infectious grin and big bear hugs. He also enjoyed listening to Veterans and their stories.

Johnny is survived by his father, John (JoAnn) Jenney, Jr.; his siblings, Jason Jenney and Tiffany (Travis) Matuska; his paternal grandmother, Sandra Jenney; aunts, Jill (Tom) Barnhouse and Judi (Steve) Kell; uncles, Joe (Sheila) Jenney and James Jenney; aunts, Deborah Stevens, Stephanie Willits, and Julie York; great-uncle, Frank (Joleen) Watson; great-aunt, Mary Heins; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Michelle; maternal grandparents, Allen and Coleen Evans; paternal grandfather, John T Jenney, Sr.; and uncles, Jeffrey Jenney and Chandler Evans.

A heartfelt thank you to all his special friends, that were more like "family" at Club 76. Your caring concerns for him mean the world to his family and we are forever grateful. Johnny was so lucky and blessed to have you a part of his life.

As you hold me in memory, even though we are apart, my spirit will live on, there within your heart...

When you lean on trusted friends and the caring hugs enfold you, within their loving arms, I’ll be there to hold you...

And beyond the far horizon when we’ll finally be together, where love will be eternal and life will last forever...
