Joanne M. Mullins, 95, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, at The Vistas at Bettendorf, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
The former Joanne May Berkedal was born July 28, 1930, in Manitowoc, the daughter of Bernard and Leona (Kutil) Berkedal. During her junior year at Lincoln High School, she met a freshman named Lawrence Mullins at the county fair in Manitowoc. Although she was scared, she went with Larry on the Ferris wheel and the rest is history as the couple was married on August 11, 1951.
Joanne started working at Walgreens Drug Store at the age of 16. She later worked at Fehr’s Jewelry and the concrete plant in Manitowoc, but once Larry returned from war in 1954, she settled into her career as a homemaker.
She loved her family, cooking, and decorating her home. In later years, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and playing Bingo. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Joanne is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Joyce) Mullins of Davenport, Iowa, Lori Hey of Fish Creek, Wisconsin, and Julie (Jim) Anderson of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Kenneth Berkedal; and a sister, Murial Lahey.
