James A. Bonduelle

Oct 11, 1946 — Jun 19, 2026

Davenport, Iowa

James A. Bonduelle, 79, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, at Harmony Utica Ridge, Davenport.

Private burial will take place at Rock Island Memorial Park, Rock Island, Illinois. Cremation will be directed by Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

James Albert Bonduelle was born October 11, 1946, in Moline, Illinois, to his beloved parents, Leon and Rachael (Verhaghe) Bonduelle. He is of Belgium descent through his grandparents on both sides.

Jim graduated from Moline High School in 1964. He married Joyce Westmorland in 1964 and the couple has shared nearly 62 years of happy marriage. They proudly raised two beautiful daughters and they have five grandchildren. His children and grandchildren were his true meaningful purpose in life.

His working career began at Turnstyle in Moline, and has since worked at Geifman’s, Baker’s Dairy, Farmall International (21 years), and the U.S. government (Red River Army Depot in Texas and Rock Island Arsenal for a total of 25 years). Jim enjoyed the government because there were no layoffs or strikes, and it was a place to grow and become an important performance link for our country. He worked as a machine tool and dye operator and contracting officer representative.

He retired in 2009, having received numerous awards for his efforts and great workmanship. His main award was making his wife and family proud of him as well as making many friends in life. He enjoyed cooking and baking, and will be remembered for his breads, desserts, and popcorn. He also loved working on old cars.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; two daughters, Paula (Tom) Arends of Moline, and Christie (Terry Wisely) Schwager of Dubuque, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Amanda (Ethan) Street, Kyle Arends, Branden Arends, Devan Schwager, and Logan Schwager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Rachael Bonduelle, and his sister, Carol Thompson.
