Evelyn L. Dodson

Evelyn L. Dodson, 74, of Colona, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family.

The former Evelyn Loraine Hopwood was born December 21, 1950, in Carrollton, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Lottie (Camden) Hopwood. She has been married to the love of her life, Elbert Lee Dodson, for over 53 years.

Family was the center of Evelyn’s world. She always put others before herself and nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband, Elbert; two children, Kelly Russell of Colona, and Joseph “Joe” (Kristen) Dodson of Moline; four grandchildren, Jessica and Courtney Russell, and Ashley and Jacob Dodson; two great-grandchildren, Audyn Peterson and Bronx Russell; her siblings with whom she was very close, Charles “Chuck” (Mary) Hopwood, Charlotte “Ann” Hilton, Carolyn “Sue” (Ollen) Stephens, Debbie (Matt) Jones, and Bill (Trudy) Hopwood; and many nieces and nephews.
