Bette A. Clarke

Bette A. Clarke, 78, of Colona, Illinois, died Monday, August 22, 2022, at home surrounded by family and friends.

A celebration of life will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4th, at Riverfont Grille, 4619 34th Street, Rock Island. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

The former Bette Ann Smith was born July 6, 1944 to Gale and Doris (Hawthorne) Smith. She married Gerald Lindquist, and later married Robert Clarke on January 15, 1983. He died in 2019.

She enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing, crocheting, camping, boating, traveling, helping with scholarships, and helping others (especially single moms).

Bette is survived by her children, Michael F. (Kathy) Lindquist, Wanda Lindquist, Aaron Lindquist, Patrick (Jill) Clarke, and Jennifer (Scott) Hendrix; her grandchildren, Michael R. Lindquist, Amanda Lindquist, Jessica Lindquist, Nick Casteneda, Beverly Jacobs, Abigale Lindquist, Jesse Hendrix, Samantha Hendrix, Alexa Hendrix, Andrea Hendrix, Jacob Hendrix, Allyson White, Matthew Sells, Nick Sells, Benjamin Doyle; a number of great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces; sister-in-law, Mary Smith; and brothers-in-law, Rodney Johnson and John Hemminger. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Lindquist and Robert Clarke; sisters, Lavonne Schumaker and Donna Johnson; brother, Carl Smith; sister-in-law, Linda Schumaker; nephew, Brian Smith; and niece, Sandy Smith.
